Ted Kaczynski, also known as the "Unabomber," is an American mathematician and domestic terrorist. Born on May 22, 1942, Kaczynski was a brilliant academic who earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan. However, he became notorious for a series of bombings that he carried out between 1978 and 1995.

Kaczynski's bombings targeted individuals involved in technology and modern industrial society. His targets included university professors, airline executives, and other professionals. His bombs were often sent through the mail and caused multiple deaths and injuries.

The FBI, with the help of the media, initiated an extensive manhunt to identify and capture the Unabomber. In 1995, Kaczynski's brother recognized his writing style and beliefs from the Unabomber's manifesto, leading to his arrest. Kaczynski was subsequently convicted in 1998 and is currently serving multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole.

The case of Ted Kaczynski remains a significant example of domestic terrorism in the United States. It also sparked discussions about the impact of technology on society and the mental health of individuals who resort to violent means to express their grievances.
